"Weightlifting"--Title track to the album Weightlifting. This song is very cathartic and a fitting end to this album. "You will find a great weight lifting / Easing your mind -- a great weight lifting / just leave it behind -- a great weight lifting". I especially like the higher pitched "la la la"s in the chorus that form a counter-melody to the main chorus melody.

"All the Dark Horses"--Single from Weightlifting. Why this song wasn't a monster hit is a crying shame. Love the tension in the song that is created at 3:02, followed by the pretty electric guitar tremolo to resolve that tension. The Family Channel drama Wildfire used "All The Dark Horses" in it's pilot episode at the conclusion and (I believe) earlier in the episode as well.

"The Pop Place"--from A Happy Pocket. Humorous, quirky, played with tongue firmly in cheek. Not very popular among Trashcan Sinatras fans that I've spoken too, but I like it. Kind of has an XTC quality to it. Probably the only song in recording history to use the word "rhinoceres" (at 2:16)--is that really the plural of rhinoceros?

"The Genius I Was" from A Happy Pocket. One of the most under-appreciated songs from one of the most under-appreciated bands on one of their most under-appreciated albums (even amongst TCS fans). Top notch song from start to finish--very rich musical production throughout, especially during the chorus.

"A Boy and a Girl"--B-side to the album A Happy Pocket. I find this song absolutely stunning. The Trashcan Sinatras apparently felt this song didn't feel right to be included on any of their release studio albums (it does however appear on their collection of B-sides, On a B Road), but despite this, it's still one of their best efforts. Very spooky and atmospheric, with a rich chorus. The final minute, with its Nirvana-esque soundscape, caps off the song perfectly.

"To Sir, With Love" Fourth single on A Happy Pocket--A rendition that is more soulful and melancholy and less poppy than the original Lulu version. I personally love the final minute and a half (3:15 until the end) of instrumental work and vocal "ahhs". Scenes from the Trashcan Sinatras' promotional short film Spooktime make up a large portion of this video. "Dinnae kick the wall, son...."

"How Can I Apply...?" Third single on A Happy Pocket--Very catchy melody that really should have been a hit. Great to noodle around with on the acoustic guitar. The line in the song is "how can I apply to you?", so they just abbreviated the title. Personally, I would have eliminated the "dot-dot-dot-question mark" as it looks a little weird, but that's just me.

"Twisted and Bent" Second single on A Happy Pocket--One of the best Trashcan Sinatras songs within the "Trash-canon". "The pirate in me turned a blind eye." -- Nice. Another video containing scenes from their short film Spooktime.
